Easter

April 1, 2013

 HeY family! Love ya'll.

I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter sunday! It was a good day for me as well. Just taking some time and thinking about the Savior and my relationship. I sure am grateful for Him!

I was curious of how much you pay for your monthly house payment, here for a one bedroom old apartment its $1300.....I feel like that’s a ton?! How does that compare? haha

On Saturday we went to a baptism in Manassas for one of Elder Wilson's old people and there was also Elder Wloka, from Germany and in the Spanish program, and his family sent him a huge box of german chocolate for him to share!!! It was probably over $100 of chocolate! and it was really good hahah.

So our teaching with the "clan of 8" is going really good. They are all still interested. There is one lady who is a little more interested than the rest and she is one of the main people so we feel that if she is the first to get baptized they will follow, we taught them the word of wisdom (they all have problems with it) and they accepted to live it! The spirit was there so that helped! :) ha.

We had a cool experience with President Riggs this past week. One of our less actives, Diego, doesn't think you can live the gospel and be successful in life. He doesn't think it’s realistic haha. So we were thinking and President Riggs popped into our minds. So we called him and asked if he could meet with us. And he accepted! He shared some scriptures about money, and keeping the commandments and told him how literally everything we have isn't even ours'. It’s all God's so why not give all of "our substance to the poor" he then told some personal experiences that blew my mind of how much money her really has (I always knew he was obviously loaded but man...) he said that when they first got married they decided to always pay $20 for fast offering, and every so often they would double it!!! and now he said that he pays enough money that it could pay some one's mortgage...and he does that each month!! What a great example. I think I'll do that :) hahah.

The other day we were on our way over to an appointment but we got a call from an english member telling us that he has a hispanic friend who was over at their house who needs help and was super interested in learning the gospel! So we made an emergency turn to go over there haha. It was such a powerful lesson too! She was just at the bottoms of bottoms in life and is looking to God now for help! So humbled through different life's experiences. It was great! So we'll be working with her. She plans on moving back to Bolivia in a couple months!

I am sooooooo pumped for General Conference!! can't wait. I am so happy we have the chance to listen to God's will for all of us at this time, April 2013! Whether it’s God's voice or the voice of His servants, it is the same!

Last night for Easter we colored some eggs!!! It was fun. Reminded of all the years we all colored eggs together!!

A lot of the trees are blossoming!!! We are planning on going to the cherry festival next p-day!!!! who!!!! so beautiful! hahah can't wait!

The familia Dees made me some special gluten free blueberry muffins!!! They were sooo good. I honestly am shocked at how much of having celiac desease is a blessing! People have been so kind and I am so blessed to be able to see that love and Christlike charity!!

We were visiting a less active a 14 year old and he was telling us that he had a dream that an angel came to him and told him to start going to church and then kicked him out of bed and he woke up on the floor!!! hahah so cool. Since then he's been going hahah.

I got a letter from Sis Fessler! I recently was craving listening to motab their “consider the lilies” and she sent me that cd!!! i love it. It’s crazy because I was like ahhh man,.... I really want to listen to that song and Elder Wilson doesn’t have it and she sent it! What a blessing!!!!

We were tracting and this 50-60 year old guy answered and we did our spill and he said "oh...but barca is playing...."  then I asked him if barca is more important than Christ? haha pretty up front but the truth with him..he looked like ahh man you’re right...but then he's like but barca is playing and left... I was saddened to see that... people who don't have their priorities straight... it’s sad...

Remember how I told you about Andres and how solid he was....ahaha.... he had to get permission from his mom because he is a minor and she told him that he is not ready because she has a brother who is 46 and he "just finally got baptized" and it took him all those years etc...it was sad! He looked so sad so we are going to see his mom tonight to explain it to her...

Well I love you all soo much!! Let me know if there is anything I can do for ya'll besides praying for ya'll???

Good Week March 25, 2013

Hey fam!

Happy Easter! That’s exciting news about Amanda!!! wooo!!! hahah. congrats.

This week we had a lot of good stuff that happened. But first I forgot to tell ya'll that I upgraded cars when I got transferred. I drive now a 2013 subaru legacy. It’s nice. It has paddle shifters like a lambo would :D haha its fun.

We had a ton of really good lessons this week. We had a total of 13 lessons! and they were powerful. We also put 13 new investigators on date to be baptized in the coming months. And we found 17 new investigators as well!

So one of the reasons we had so much new investigators is because we were tracting and talked to 4 people who were walking back to their house from buying groceries. We asked if we could share this message with them. They said yes and we walked with them til we got in the house. When we got in we saw that there was 8 adults (mix of fam and friends) who all live there. As we were teaching we were thinking how awesome this is haha. You have the 2 missionerios and 8 adults listening intently. At the end of the lesson we invited them all to be baptized together and they all accepted haha. We went in a circle and asked everyone individually if they would follow the feelings in their hearts and follow Jesus Christ. They all said yes. It was so powerful!! We have a lesson with them tonight and we found them Saturday evening!

We also had a lesson with this 14 year old who is really humble, we walked in his house and there was no furniture only a little kitchen table and a couple chairs!  but as we were going on with the lesson we asked what he felt and thought about the BOM, he said that if it wasn't true we wouldn't even have it because Jose Smith wouldn't have translated it or received it from God. And then he said that if Jose Smith just wrote it he wouldn't have been able to anyway. haha Then at the end he said a super powerful prayer and asked God to let his family be ok with him being baptized and also follow his footsteps and be baptized too!! The spirit was so strong!

Another great lesson we had was with this 17 year old girl on her porch (we can't go in unless there is a guy too) and at the end she also accepted to be baptized and explained she had the chills as we were talking. She wants to be baptized she just has to "convince" her catholic mom. We are going to go see her tomorrow to see what’s up!! How great is that!?!?!

Another lesson with a lady who during the lesson was just sitting there and is like I know the Book of Mormon is true!! haha no way!!! Spirit bomb this week!! She wants to read more til she gets baptized but she is awesome! haha

I hope all these miracles don't mean this is going to be a tough week haha. But yeah it was such a great week to be a missionary!

One thing this week that was hard is that we got out of one of our lessons and saw 2 other spanish elders who aren’t in our zone....the week before president called a spanish meeting because of a lack of obedience (remember how I told about that?) and he told all of us that we have to tell him when we see another missionary break the rules, just because not only are they hurting their own salvation but also the investigators and are giving power to Satan. So we were thinking oh man...why did we have to see these 2 goofs breaking the rules...and a big rule!!! You can’t leave your zone without president's permision! We were scared to tell him.. haha but friday at our zone conference we pulled president aside and told him.. got an email from him thanking us for having the courage to do that and stand up for what’s right. Then he said I hope your relationship with the elders isn't damaged! hahaha oh man...yikes! Oh well God will bless us for doing what’s right!

So this morning we woke up to about 3-4 inches of snow!!! yea!!!! haha its nice too!

So dad we teach grace a lot to less actives! We go through a number of scriptures and then testify that without going to church and partaking of the sacrament we can’t take part in the atonement or receive grace from God, or rather 'divine help' throughout the week. It is one of my favorite things to teach because it is so powerful and really touches their hearts!

Mom the meds were in the last package thanks!!! maybe for easter some betty crocker gluten free choco chip cookies, brownies or any homemade snack! haha sure love ya'll.

So when does Amanda find out if it’s a boy or girl?? or better twins!! I had a feeling lately that Amanda was going to be having a baby! cool right???

Everything is going really good. No complaints here! March sure is going fast!!

Well I hope ya'll have a great Easter and think about what Christ means to you. 2 nefi 9! one of my favorites!!

con amor,
